The programme equips students for entry into the music profession at a high artistic level. Students gain comprehensive knowledge and experience through participation in a wide range of solo, ensemble, and orchestral performance activities. The flexible curriculum caters for individual interests, enables students to develop an area of performance specialism, and cultivates the cognitive and generic skills to meet the demands of the profession.

Conducting Major
The programme provides high level training in conducting, analytical techniques, and related professional research training. Students have opportunities to conduct various ensembles and orchestras in the Academy, and gain comprehensive knowledge and experience through participation in a wide range of seminars and masterclasses. In addition to the consolidation of repertoire knowledge, the curriculum enables students to develop their critical interpretation and own conducting style.

Composition Major
The programme provides professional training in composition, analytical skills, and related research technique at an advanced level. In addition to the consolidation of technical and conceptual skills fundamental to the creative process, the curriculum provides a practical environment for students to compose in a variety of styles and contexts. Students have opportunities to work with colleagues of the other Schools at the Academy, have their works performed in public concerts, and acquire experience in concert organisation and the promotion of their own compositions.
