The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) is pleased to announce that the Jockey Club Dance Well Project – Annual Sharing 2023 will take place on November 16, 2023 at the Main Campus of the Academy in Wanchai. This event marks a significant moment of the Jockey Club Dance Well Project (the Project), a three-year creative dance programme funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust which aims to empower individuals with Parkinson's disease through artistic and creative expression.
The Jockey Club Dance Well Project Annual Sharing 2023 will provide a platform for mutual exchange and learning and for gaining further insights into the use of the arts to enhance the lives of individuals with Parkinson's disease. The event will focus on collaboration and experience sharing, featuring discussions between professionals in the arts, social welfare, and medical fields.
The event will showcase the incredible progress achieved by the Project participants, who have experienced psychological and physical empowerment, and formed a resilient and supportive community, fostering solidarity and personal growth through the Project. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions that bridge the gap between arts, social welfare, and healthcare, ultimately shaping a brighter future where dance serves as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of those with Parkinson's disease.
“We believe in the transformative power of dance, and the Jockey Club Dance Well Project Annual Sharing allows us to celebrate the progress and achievements of our participants," said Anna CY Chan, Project Director of the Jockey Club Dance Well Project and Dean of Dance, HKAPA. "We invite everyone to join us for this inspiring event as we explore ways to improve the lives of individuals with Parkinson's through artistic expression and community engagement.”

About the Jockey Club Dance Well Project
Initiated by the HKAPA School of Dance in partnership with Dance Well Italy and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the three-year Jockey Club Dance Well Project invites local dance artists to lead dance experiences in artistic spaces for those with Parkinson’s disease. The project comprises a train-the-trainer programme, community dance workshops, presentations, and an impact study on the sustainable development of dance in the Hong Kong. The World Health Organization Report recognises the benefits of the Dance Well approach to promoting the psycho-physical well-being of people with Parkinson’s disease, helping to creatively address their symptom-specific concerns.
