The network with community around us is expanding, as we orchestrate a wide range of efforts from the valuable partnerships forged with different collaborators. Through the community engagement activities we take part in, we aim to increase the positive impact of performing arts to a wider community.
Catherine SY Chan Creative Project Fund
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is committed to enhancing an inclusive society and providing equal opportunities for everyone to enjoy performing arts. The Creative Project Fund is offered to HKAPA students to develop creative projects which are able to fulfill the mission of “Arts for Everyone” and promote inclusiveness through the arts to build a caring society. Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree programmes in the Academy are welcome to submit their proposals, with HK$30,000 to $60,000 granted for each selected project.
Monthly General Admission Talk with Campus Tour
The monthly activity is open to schools and organisations with prospective students who would like to learn about the general admission requirement of the Undergraduate and Post-secondary Programmes offered by the Academy and about our physical facilities.
Go APA Goal
"Go APA Goal" is an integrated life planning programme that offers career talks, student/alumni sharing and campus tour tailored for secondary school students. The activty is open for application via District Offices or NGOs with 30 or more participants.
Arts Accessibility Workshops
The Academy believes in Arts for all and therefore we actively promote arts inclusion to our students so that they will have early exposure to creative engagement with the disabled, and can continue to advocate for arts inclusion in future. With the renewal of the MoU with Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK) in January 2022, four Arts Accessibility (AA) workshops were held in person just before the outbreak of pandemic - two tailored for Dance students, one for Drama students, and one for general audience which was also held online. Eight editions of the workshops have been held during 2019-2023.
Merry Go Around HKAPA x UNICEF HK
To promote children’s mental wellbeing, foster mental resilience against adversity, and develop an appreciation for performing arts through exposure and experience, the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) invited The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to join hands. Via the Student Recruitment and Community Engagement Office (SRCE), the result was the “Merry Go Around HKAPA” project, which offered art-indulging and fun-filled activities for over 600 children from underprivileged families from August to December 2022.
