The School of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is seeking an Assistant Executive Officer to support the administrative and clerical functions essential for the daily operations and management of the School. The primary responsibilities include providing office administrative support to the Executive Officer, coordinating hall schedules for academic and performance activities, and liaising with faculty, departments, and students for various events such as concerts, masterclasses, and workshops. Additionally, the role involves handling project and event materials, setups, stage requirements, and ticketing, producing promotional materials like posters and leaflets, maintaining and updating event information on the Academy's website and calendars, archiving event records, and assisting with promotional materials and social media updates.
Applicants should:
(a) Have completed post-secondary education, preferably at degree level or equivalent;
(b) Have a proven record of at least 4 years of office working experience;
(c) Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua;
(d) Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Chinese word processing. Basic knowledge of MS Access is a must;
(e) Possess good organisational and interpersonal skills;
(f) Be pleasant, self-motivated, flexible, responsible and able to work independently.

The postholder will assist the Head of Campus Development to:
Manage, administer, monitor and co-ordinate construction projects and campus renovation / improvement works from inception to the completion of the projects;

Supervise professional/technical staff and provide professional advice and support; and
Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Applicants should:
(a) Possess a recognised degree in Architecture / Building Surveying / Engineering / Quantity Surveying or related discipline with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience;
(b) Be a member of a professional institution, e.g. HKIA, HKIE, HKIS or similar professional bodies;
(c) Have minimum 6 years of project management experience in handling or managing capital works projects and budget control. Experience in a public project will be an advantage;
(d) Be well versed with Hong Kong construction and building-related legislations, government procedures and policies;
(e) Preferably have knowledge in BIM or green building;
(f) Have good interpersonal and presentation skills; and
(g) Have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

The postholder will be responsible to the Dean of School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts for academic coordination and curriculum development for all programmes. He/She is also responsible for teaching courses related to practice-based research studies, in addition to teaching courses in the postholder’s area of specialism.
Required Qualifications
(a) Advanced academic qualifications and/or a relevant MA/MFA degree in the performing arts or other relevant field;
(b) Normally, a minimum of eight years’ experience of teaching at tertiary level, preferably to Master’s level;
(c) Normally, at least four years’ leadership and administrative/management experience in an arts context or the equivalent;
(d) Broad experience in curricular design, writing and implementation according to established quality assurance frameworks;
(e) Ability to contribute to the postgraduate programmes of the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts;
(f) Excellent spoken and written English.
Additional Desirable Criteria
(a) Experience in teaching in a multi-cultural context;

The Head of Human Resources assists the Principal Head (Human Resources and Council Secretariat) in managing the human resources function of the Academy. The major responsibilities and duties include:
(a) To assist in overseeing the operation of HR Office to ensure its efficient and effective delivery of HR services;
(b) To assist in the formulation of various HR policies and the development of a robust HR system;
(c) To advise on updated HR-related legislation and oversee the handling of staff matters;

The School of Film and Television offers major studies in Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Sound Design, Screenwriting, Digital Screen Design and Creative Producing. It is equipped with high level traditional film cameras and a wide range of high-definition (HD) video cameras, professional camera support equipment, digital sound recording systems and digital post-production facilities for picture and sound editing, immersive sound mixing, visual effects design and colour correction. The School houses teaching, screening and production facilities at two campuses. A multi-cam studio called the Screen Production and Research Centre (SPaRC) provides a location for emerging screen practices and interdisciplinary projects.
The postholder will be responsible to the Dean of the School of Film and Television. He/She will lead the major study in directing, screenwriting and creative development. The postholder will design and deliver classes or modules and supervise screen production exercises and activities for students at all levels in the BFA (and MFA, where appropriate) programs. He/She will also be required to act as project supervisor for third year projects and/or graduation projects, as necessary. Crucially, the ideal candidate will have experience curating innovative art-tech narrative projects, such as immersive storytelling, to meet the film industry's evolving needs. As a full-time faculty member, the postholder is expected to demonstrate additional teaching experience or substantial leadership in at least one additional area such as: Inter-disciplinary project development, Creative project development, Professional development and/or Curriculum/Pedagogical development.
Applicants should:
(a) possess an advanced degree in a relevant discipline;
(b) present examples of original creative writing in a literary, dramatic or screen context;
(c) demonstrate significant experience in creative writing or screen production;
(d) have experience as an originator or script editor in creative or immersive story-telling;
(e) demonstrate excellence in teaching via student evaluations and/or outcomes;
(f) be responsible, reliable, motivated, able to work independently and possess excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills;
(g) have an excellent command of spoken and written Chinese or English, including language structure, grammar and writing styles;
(h) provide excellent written references.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract. Renewal of contract is subject to work performance. A gratuity payment equals up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Subject to negotiation, the expected commencement date will be September 2025.

MANAGER (COUNCIL SECRETARIAT)

The Manager (Council Secretariat) will provide all-round executive support and assist the Principal Head (Council Secretariat and Human Resources) in overseeing the operation and services of the Council Secretariat. The appointee will also be responsible for carrying out administration and liaison work which include logistical arrangements for meetings and functions, preparation of agenda and papers of meetings, maintaining and updating records, liaison with other departments of the Academy and external organisations, and assisting in ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Applicants should have:
(a) A recognised university degree, or equivalent;
(b) At least 6 years of solid experience in providing secretarial services and/or executive support at senior level in sizable organisations;
(c) Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; preferably proficiency in Putonghua;
(d) Meticulous attention to details and alertness to sensitive issues and matters;
(e) Strong organisational management, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to be an effective team leader as well as a collaborative team member; and
(f) Experience in handling governance issues in tertiary institutions would be an advantage.
