The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) is pleased to announce that the Jockey Club Dance Well Project Showcase – Dancing Park will be held on March 15 and 16, 2025, at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre of HKAPA. This showcase marks the successful outcome of the Jockey Club Dance Well Project (Dance Well), a creative dance project designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease as well as people of diverse ages and backgrounds, generously funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by the School of Dance of HKAPA. Over the past three years, Dance Well brought numerous participants to various artistic spaces, such as galleries, museums, and performance venues, to fully explore the unique possibilities of their bodies and dance with Parkinson's.
Dancing Park features two captivating dance pieces brought to the stage by 30 Dance Well dancers: "The Rest" and "Travelogue." Choreographer of “Travelogue” - Frankie Ho stated, "After several months of rehearsals, we have seen significant progress in the participants' body coordination and control, and we are delighted to witness them uncovering more dance vocabulary and liberating their bodies more freely." The dancers will eloquently narrate personal and collective stories during the performance, sharing this artistic journey. Furthermore, the project’s research findings will be announced, shedding light on the various impacts dance has on individuals with Parkinson's disease, including enhancements to their physical functions, mental well-being, and interpersonal relationships.
Dancing Park is a place where determination and creativity intersect. We not only applaud the artistic achievements of the Dance Well dancers but also firmly believe that everyone is an artist who can express themselves through dance. You are sincerely invited to witness the transformative power of dance. Each dancer will shine on stage, sharing stories, embracing beauty, and embodying the beauty that radiates from within.

About the Jockey Club Dance Well Project (https://jcdancewell.hkapa.edu)
Initiated by the HKAPA School of Dance in partnership with Dance Well Italy and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the three-year Jockey Club Dance Well Project invites local dance artists to lead dance experiences in artistic spaces for those with Parkinson’s disease. The project comprises a train-the-trainer programme, community dance workshops, sharings and showcases, and an impact study on the sustainable development of dance in Hong Kong. The World Health Organization Report recognises the benefits of the Dance Well approach to promoting the psycho-physical well-being of people with Parkinson’s disease, helping to creatively address their symptom-specific concerns.
