Identify Talents for Chinese Opera

The School of Chinese Opera provides professional and comprehensive training in Cantonese opera performance and music to build a solid foundation and attain professional standards and learning outcomes. All our programmes comprise of majors in Cantonese Opera Performance and Cantonese Opera Music. The programmes emphasize on both practical studies, and contextual studies such as Chinese culture and Chinese opera history. It aims to broaden students’ artistic horizons and to promote their capabilities in performance, analysis, evaluation and engagement in creative works. Students will be inspired through an articulated, progressive and student-centred programme structure, which in effect strengthen their professional skills and artistic knowledge. Our programmes include the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Chinese Opera and the Diploma in Cantonese Opera Foundations. From September 2023, the School offers a new Professional Diploma in Cantonese Opera for strengthening our effort in nurturing future practitioners.
