Tin Ka Ping Foundation donates HK$3 million to The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (“the Academy”). Together with the Hong Kong Government’s 1:1 Matching Grant, the Fund’s total amount will be HK$6 million. With the establishment of “Tin Ka Ping Education Fund”, the return on investment will support Academy students to participate in Mainland Study and Exchange Programme, as well asService Learning Programme in Hong Kong and overseas, so as to nurture a new generation of artists with leadership and vision.
The Academy organised a cheque presentation ceremony yesterday. It was attended by Chairman of Tin Ka Ping Foundation, Mr Sam Tin Hing-sin; board members of the Foundation; Academy Council Chairman, Professor Stephen Chow; Academy Director, Professor Adrian Walter; Deputy Director (Administration), Professor Philip Wong and Deputy Director (Academic), ProfessorGillian Choa.
Professor Stephen Chow expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Tin Ka Ping Foundation for its generosity and kind support. “The Academy encourages its students to participate in the study and knowledge exchange activities that are offered by our partnering arts institutions in the Mainland to broaden their horizons, enrich their professional knowledge and inspire their creativity. In addition, the Academy highly values moral education. We hope our students can develop critical thinking and leadership, hone their problem-solving and decision-making skills, and build team work spirit through service learning activities. We are truly grateful for Tin Ka Ping Foundation’s donation for the establishment of ‘Tin Ka Ping Education Fund’ which helps us nurture the new generation of performing arts leaders for our country and Hong Kong.”
Mr Sam Tin Hing Sin, Chairman of Tin Ka Ping Foundation, remarked, “we hope to establish a permanent fund which will continuously support the Academy’s teachers and students on exchange and service programmes on the Mainland. It also opens a new page of educational cooperation between the Academy and the Foundation. ”
