The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Appoints Professor Gillian Choa as New Director with effect from 1 January 2021
The Council of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (the Academy) announces today the appointment of Professor Gillian Choa as the new Director of the Academy with effect from 1 January 2021, to succeed Professor Adrian Walter who will retire at the end of December 2020 after serving the Academy for over eight years. Professor Choa will become the first female Director since the establishment of the Academy in 1984.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Announces the Establishment of 2020/21 COVID-19 Student Support Bursary and HKAPA Scholarships 2020/21
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its recent resurgence has severely impacted on the local economy. To assist the Academy’s students who are having financial difficulties, the Council has led the Academy to establish a bursary scheme and new scholarships to provide timely relief to the Academy’s local students who are experiencing genuine financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let Music Keep Our Spirits Up! - "Ritual Fire Dance" by HKAPA's Cello Ensemble
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Art’s Cello Ensemble, comprising 13 School of Music students, came together to prepare a virtual rendition of Ritual Fire Dance by Manuel de Falla using video conferencing software amid the pandemic. Although they cannot meet during this period of time, they keep up with their learning and bond with one another. With their music, they hope to brighten up days of those whose lives are affected by the pandemic.
